过了许久，到第三年，耶和华的话临到以利亚说：“你去，使亚哈得见你；我要降雨在地上。”

以利亚对亚哈说：“你现在可以上去吃喝，因为有多雨的响声了。”亚哈就上去吃喝。以利亚上了迦密山顶，屈身在地，将脸伏在两膝之中；对仆人说：“你上去，向海观看。”仆人就上去观看，说：“没有什么。”他说：“你再去观看。”如此七次。第七次仆人说：“我看见有一小片云从海里上来，不过如人手那样大。”以利亚说：“你上去告诉亚哈，当套车下去，免得被雨阻挡。”霎时间，天因风云黑暗，降下大雨。亚哈就坐车往耶斯列去了。

风随着意思吹，你听见风的响声，却不晓得从哪里来，往哪里去；凡从圣灵生的，也是如此。”

“你曾进入雪库，或见过雹仓吗？这雪雹乃是我为降灾，并打仗和争战的日子所预备的。光亮从何路分开？东风从何路分散遍地？“谁为雨水分道？谁为雷电开路？使雨降在无人之地、无人居住的旷野？使荒废凄凉之地得以丰足，青草得以发生？雨有父吗？露水珠是谁生的呢？

外邦人虚无的神中有能降雨的吗？天能自降甘霖吗？耶和华我们的神啊，能如此的不是你吗？所以，我们仍要等候你，因为这一切都是你所造的。

野地还没有草木，田间的菜蔬还没有长起来；因为耶和华神还没有降雨在地上，也没有人耕地，但有雾气从地上腾，滋润遍地。

因他一吩咐，狂风就起来，海中的波浪也扬起。
