然而，耶和華使海面起了狂風，滔天巨浪幾乎把船打成碎片。

祂降下雨水澆灌大地，賜下甘霖滋潤田園。

旱災持續了三年。一天，耶和華吩咐以利亞說：「你去見亞哈。我要降雨在地上。」

以利亞對亞哈說：「你去吃喝吧，因為我已聽見大雨將臨的聲音。」亞哈就去吃喝。以利亞上到迦密山頂，跪在地上，臉伏在雙膝之間。他吩咐僕人：「你去向海的方向觀看。」僕人就去觀看，然後說：「什麼也沒有。」以利亞又讓他去觀看，前後共七次。第七次，僕人說：「我看見一朵手掌那麼大的雲從海裡升起來了。」以利亞便吩咐他：「你去告訴亞哈，叫他套車下山，免得被雨阻擋。」霎時間，天上烏雲密佈，狂風大作，下起大雨。亞哈坐著馬車回耶斯列。

風隨意吹動，你聽見它的聲音，卻不知道它從哪裡來，往哪裡去。凡從聖靈生的人也是這樣。」

「你曾到過雪庫，或見過雹倉嗎？那是我為降災之時，為爭戰之日而預備的。光從哪條路散開？東風從哪條路吹向大地？誰為豪雨開水道，為雷電闢路徑，使雨水降在杳無人煙之地，降在無人居住的曠野，以滋潤荒涼不毛之地，使土地長出青草？雨水有父親嗎？誰生的露珠？

在列國供奉的偶像中，誰能賜下雨水呢？天能自降甘霖嗎？我們的上帝耶和華啊，難道不是只有你能行這些事嗎？是你賜雨水降甘霖，所以我們仰望你。

地上還沒有草木菜蔬，因為耶和華上帝還沒有降雨在地上，土地也沒有人耕作，但有水從地裡湧出，澆灌大地。

祂一聲令下，狂風大作，巨浪滔天。
