Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

“ David found favor with God and asked for the privilege of building a permanent Temple for the God of Jacob.But it was Solomon who actually built it.However, the Most High doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. As the prophet says,‘ Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that?’ asks the Lord.‘ Could you build me such a resting place?

“ My son, I wanted to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord my God,” David told him.

They brought the Ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the special tent David had prepared for it. And David sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings to the Lord.

“ But will God really live on earth? Why, even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this Temple I have built!

Then David summoned all Israel to Jerusalem to bring the Ark of the Lord to the place he had prepared for it.

But who can really build him a worthy home? Not even the highest heavens can contain him! So who am I to consider building a Temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices to him?

This is what the Lord says:“ Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place?

He said to them,“ You are the leaders of the Levite families. You must purify yourselves and all your fellow Levites, so you can bring the Ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.
