既允大維。主寧能忘。爾之冢息。必得為王。

The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke:“ One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.

The Lord made a promise to David. It is a firm promise that he will never break. He said,“ After you die, I will place one of your own sons on your throne.

Now therefore, O Lord, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying,‘ You shall not lack a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.’

The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind,“ You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.”

Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,

and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,

And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.’”

When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. “ Thus says the Lord: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time,then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers.As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.”The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah:“ Have you not observed that these people are saying,‘ The Lord has rejected the two clans that he chose’? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight.Thus says the Lord: If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed order of heaven and earth,then I will reject the offspring of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his offspring to rule over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.”

And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or have regret, for he is not a man, that he should have regret.”

so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.

Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.
