Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;

Lord, I cry out to you because I’m suffering so deeply.

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!

From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help.

Out of the depths I call to you, LORD!

Out of the depths I have cried to You, Lord.

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Jehovah.

Out of the depths I call to You, Yahweh!

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.

From the deep water I cry out to you, O LORD.

Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me.

They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast a stone on me.Waters flowed over my head. I said,“ I am cut off.”I called on your name, Yahweh, out of the lowest dungeon.

He said,“ I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice.For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.I said,‘ I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’

Save me, God, for the waters have come up to my neck!I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

Deliver me out of the mire, and don’t let me sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.Don’t let the flood waters overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up. Don’t let the pit shut its mouth on me.

He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

The cords of death surrounded me, the pains of Sheol got a hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow.Then I called on Yahweh’s name:“ Yahweh, I beg you, deliver my soul.”

You, who have shown us many and bitter troubles, you will let me live. You will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from?

Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted.The troubles of my heart are enlarged. Oh bring me out of my distresses.Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins.

He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.

He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters.

When Yahweh brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream.

Unless Yahweh builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.

Many times they have afflicted me from my youth up. Let Israel now say,

I lift up my eyes to you, you who sit in the heavens.

If it had not been Yahweh who was on our side, let Israel now say,

Blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh, who walks in his ways.

Those who trust in Yahweh are as Mount Zion, which can’t be moved, but remains forever.

The cords of death surrounded me. The floods of ungodliness made me afraid.The cords of Sheol were around me. The snares of death came on me.In my distress I called on Yahweh, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears.

I was glad when they said to me,“ Let’s go to Yahweh’s house!”

You have laid me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths.Your wrath lies heavily on me. You have afflicted me with all your waves. Selah.
