Save me, Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.

Lord, save me from people whose lips tell lies. Save me from people whose tongues don’t tell the truth.

Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.

Rescue me, O Lord, from liars and from all deceitful people.

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death.But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forwardand declared,“ This fellow said,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus,“ Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” (niv)

Ruthless witnesses come forward; they question me on things I know nothing about. (niv)

My God, whom I praise, do not remain silent,for people who are wicked and deceitful have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. (niv)

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. (niv)

You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue! (niv)

Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers; protect me from the violent,who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day.They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s; the poison of vipers is on their lips. (niv)
