My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. I say,“ When will you comfort me?”

My eyes fail for your word. I say,“ When will you comfort me?”

I’m worn out from calling for help. My throat is very dry. My eyes grow tired looking for my God.

My eyes grow tired as I look to you to save me. Please save me as you have promised.

Lord, please stop punishing us! How long will you keep it up? Be kind to us.Satisfy us with your faithful love every morning. Then we can sing for joy and be glad all our days.Make us glad for as many days as you have made us suffer. Give us joy for as many years as we’ve had trouble.

Prove your goodness to me. Then my enemies will see it and be put to shame. Lord, you have helped me and given me comfort.

I said,“ Lord, I’ll never see you again while I’m still alive. I’ll never see people anymore. I’ll never again be with those who live in this world.

Hope that is put off makes one sick at heart. But a desire that is met is like a tree of life.

Your children will be given to another nation. Day after day you will watch for them to come back. But you will only wear out your eyes. You won’t be able to help your children.

I’ve cried so much I can’t see very well. I’m suffering deep down inside. My heart is broken because my people are destroyed. Children and babies are fainting in the streets of the city.
