May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise.

I have discovered David, my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him as king.My hand will support him, and my arm will strengthen him.No enemy will be able to exact tribute from him; a violent oppressor will not be able to humiliate him.I will crush his enemies before him; I will strike down those who hate him.He will experience my faithfulness and loyal love, and by my name he will win victories.I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.

Listen to me! Quickly deliver me! Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe!

Then Jacob prayed,“ O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, you said to me,‘ Return to your land and to your relatives and I will make you prosper.’I am not worthy of all the faithful love you have shown your servant. With only my walking stick I crossed the Jordan, but now I have become two camps.Rescue me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, as well as the mothers with their children.But you said,‘ I will certainly make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand on the seashore, too numerous to count.’”

So now, O LORD God, make this promise you have made about your servant and his family a permanent reality. Do as you promised,

Hear my plea for mercy when I cry out to you for help, when I lift my hands toward your holy temple!
