When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.

When I was in great trouble, I cried out to the Lord. He answered me and set me free from my trouble.

Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.

Many will see and fear, and they will trust in the LORD.

The ropes of death were wrapped around me, and the torments of Sheol overcame me; I encountered trouble and sorrow.Then I called on the name of the LORD:“ LORD, save me!”

But he kept insisting,“ If I have to die with you, I will never deny you.” And they all said the same thing.Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and he told his disciples,“ Sit here while I pray.”He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.He said to them,“ I am deeply grieved to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake.”He went a little farther, fell to the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.And he said,“ Abba, Father! All things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will.”

Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; he saved them from their distress.

David was in an extremely difficult position because the troops talked about stoning him, for they were all very bitter over the loss of their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.David said to the priest Abiathar son of Ahimelech,“ Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought it to him,and David asked the LORD,“ Should I pursue these raiders? Will I overtake them?” The LORD replied to him,“ Pursue them, for you will certainly overtake them and rescue the people.”

and have not handed me over to the enemy. You have set my feet in a spacious place.

Then Jacob said,“ God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the LORD who said to me,‘ Go back to your land and to your family, and I will cause you to prosper,’I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. Indeed, I crossed over the Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two camps.Please rescue me from my brother Esau, for I am afraid of him; otherwise, he may come and attack me, the mothers, and their children.

I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted.

Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; he divided the people with him into two camps, along with the flocks, herds, and camels.
