Yahweh, keep me from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from the violent men who have determined to trip my feet.

Show me a sign of your goodness, that those who hate me may see it, and be shamed, because you, Yahweh, have helped me, and comforted me.

For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.

David swore moreover, and said,“ Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes; and he says,‘ Don’t let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved;’ but truly as Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.”

Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

Though men may rise up to pursue you, and to seek your soul, yet the soul of my lord will be bound in the bundle of life with Yahweh your God. He will sling out the souls of your enemies, as from the hollow of a sling.

Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David tonight.I will come on him while he is weary and exhausted, and will make him afraid.
