It is not the dead who praise the Lord, those who go down to the place of silence;

Dead people don’t praise the Lord. Those who lie quietly in the grave don’t praise him.

LORD, do not let me be disgraced when I call on you. Let the wicked be disgraced; let them be quiet in Sheol.

Do you work wonders for the dead? Do departed spirits rise up to praise you? SelahWill your faithful love be declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Abaddon?Will your wonders be known in the darkness or your righteousness in the land of oblivion?

For Sheol cannot thank you; Death cannot praise you. Those who go down to the Pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.The living, only the living can thank you, as I do today; a father will make your faithfulness known to children.

He guards the steps of his faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness, for a person does not prevail by his own strength.

“ What gain is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your truth?
