Here is the LORD’s proclamation to my lord:“ Sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool!”

But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet.

For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet.

that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else— not only in this world but also in the world to come.God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.

And God never said to any of the angels,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”

For David himself wrote in the book of Psalms:‘ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right handuntil I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.’

Later, as Jesus was teaching the people in the Temple, he asked,“ Why do the teachers of religious law claim that the Messiah is the son of David?For David himself, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said,‘ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’Since David himself called the Messiah‘ my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?” The large crowd listened to him with great delight.

The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

“ What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They replied,“ He is the son of David.”Jesus responded,“ Then why does David, speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit, call the Messiah‘ my Lord’? For David said,‘ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’Since David called the Messiah‘ my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?”No one could answer him. And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.

For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said,‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right handuntil I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”’

You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority—

Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority.

Jesus replied,“ You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven.

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.You love justice and hate evil. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.

For the Lord declares,“ I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.”The king proclaims the Lord’s decree:“ The Lord said to me,‘ You are my son. Today I have become your Father.Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession.You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.’”

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.

He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,
