這些王都會合在西訂谷，西訂谷就是鹽海。

羅得舉目，看見約旦河整個平原，直到瑣珥，都是水源充足之地。在耶和華未毀滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉以前，那地好像耶和華的園子，又像埃及地。

所多瑪人在耶和華面前罪大惡極。

刺草和荊棘要長在我百姓的田地上，長在歡樂城中一切快樂家園上。宮殿必被撇下，繁華的城必被拋棄，堡壘和瞭望樓永為洞穴，成為野驢的樂土，羊羣的草場。等到聖靈從高處澆灌我們，曠野將變為田園，田園看似森林。

遍地都被硫磺和鹽所侵蝕，不能耕種，沒有出產，連草都長不出來，好像耶和華在怒氣和憤怒中所傾覆的所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁一樣，萬國必說：『耶和華為甚麼向此地這樣做呢？為甚麼要大發烈怒呢？』人必說：『這是因為這地的人離棄了耶和華－他們列祖的神領他們出埃及地的時候與他們所立的約，去事奉別神，敬拜他們所不認識的神明，這是耶和華未曾允許的。所以耶和華的怒氣向這地發作，將這書上所寫的一切詛咒都降在這地上。耶和華在怒氣、憤怒、大惱恨中將他們從本地拔出來，扔到別的地上，像今日一樣。』

當時，耶和華把硫磺與火，從天上耶和華那裏降與所多瑪和蛾摩拉，把那些城和全平原，城裏所有的居民和土地上生長的，都毀滅了。

但是沼澤與池塘的水無法變淡，只能作產鹽之用。
