Why should the living complain when punished for their sins?

But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved other food.

“ How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?

I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who had no sense.

I was enraged by their sinful greed; I punished them, and hid my face in anger, yet they kept on in their willful ways.I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel’s mourners,

Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,

“ See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps—both your sins and the sins of your ancestors,” says the Lord.“ Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds.”

All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose
