有人患病，由於他們自己的過犯、和自己的罪孽、而受折磨；

另一些是愚妄人，因自己的叛逆行徑和罪孽受苦。

愚人因其愆尤罪戾、罹於禍患兮、

愚人犯罪、而罹禍患兮、

愚人妄行作孽、便受苦楚、

或陷昏惑。積辜成疾。

Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.

Others were foolish. They suffered because of their sins. They suffered because they wouldn’t obey the Lord.

Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;

Some were fools; they rebelled and suffered for their sins.

Fools suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways and their iniquities.

Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.

Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

And while the flesh[ was] yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

The fool hath said in his heart,[ There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works,[ there is] none that doeth good.

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for[ there is] no bread, neither[ is there any] water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

Behold,[ it is] written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.

O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.[ There is] no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither[ is there any] rest in my bones because of my sin.For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.My wounds stink[ and] are corrupt because of my foolishness.I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.For my loins are filled with a loathsome[ disease]: and[ there is] no soundness in my flesh.I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that[ it is] an evil[ thing] and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear[ is] not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam[ became] leprous,[ white] as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold,[ she was] leprous.And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s womb.And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.

He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
