愚人因其愆尤罪戾、罹於禍患兮、

愚人犯罪、而罹禍患兮、

愚人妄行作孽、便受苦楚、

或陷昏惑。積辜成疾。

Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.

Others were foolish. They suffered because of their sins. They suffered because they wouldn’t obey the Lord.

Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;

Some were fools; they rebelled and suffered for their sins.

Fools suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways and their iniquities.

Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.

They acted like fools in their rebellious ways, and suffered because of their sins.

Why should any living person complain, any man, because of the punishment for his sins?

While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the Lord’s anger burned against the people, and the Lord struck them with a very severe plague.So they named that place Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved the meat.

“ How long, foolish ones, will you love ignorance? How long will you mockers enjoy mocking and you fools hate knowledge?

The fool says in his heart,“ God does not exist.” They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good.

The people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!”Then the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they bit them so that many Israelites died.The people then came to Moses and said,“ We have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you. Intercede with the Lord so that He will take the snakes away from us.” And Moses interceded for the people.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Make a snake image and mount it on a pole. When anyone who is bitten looks at it, he will recover.”So Moses made a bronze snake and mounted it on a pole. Whenever someone was bitten, and he looked at the bronze snake, he recovered.

I saw among the inexperienced, I noticed among the youths, a young man lacking sense.

Because of his sinful greed I was angry, so I struck him; I was angry and hid; but he went on turning back to the desires of his heart.I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,

A stupid person does not know, a fool does not understand this:

It is written before Me: I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will repay them fullyfor your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together,” says the Lord.“ Because they burned incense on the mountains and reproached Me on the hills, I will reward them fully for their former deeds.”

Lord, do not punish me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath.For Your arrows have sunk into me, and Your hand has pressed down on me.There is no health in my body because of Your indignation; there is no strength in my bones because of my sin.For my sins have flooded over my head; they are a burden too heavy for me to bear.My wounds are foul and festering because of my foolishness.I am bent over and brought low; all day long I go around in mourning.For my loins are full of burning pain, and there is no health in my body.I am faint and severely crushed; I groan because of the anguish of my heart.

Your own evil will discipline you; your own apostasies will reprimand you. Think it over and see how evil and bitter it is for you to abandon the Lord your God and to have no fear of Me. This is the declaration of the Lord God of Hosts.

As the cloud moved away from the tent, Miriam’s skin suddenly became diseased, as white as snow. When Aaron turned toward her, he saw that she was diseasedand said to Moses,“ My lord, please don’t hold against us this sin we have so foolishly committed.Please don’t let her be like a dead baby whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes out of his mother’s womb.”Then Moses cried out to the Lord,“ God, please heal her!”

He follows her impulsively like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer bounding toward a trap
