When our people were in Egypt, they forgot about the Lord’ s miracles. They didn’t remember his many kind acts. At the Red Sea they refused to obey him.

What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?Didn’t we say to you in Egypt,‘ Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!

They did not remember his power— the day he redeemed them from the oppressor,

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you. That is why I give you this command today.

They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them.If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be!

and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lieand so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.

They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand.

But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.

I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us— yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.

so that,“‘ they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’”

for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented.

They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them.

Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,

But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.

Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called“ uncircumcised” by those who call themselves“ the circumcision”( which is done in the body by human hands)—

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them:“ Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”“ Twelve,” they replied.“ And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” They answered,“ Seven.”He said to them,“ Do you still not understand?”

“ How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
