When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.

When our people were in Egypt, they forgot about the Lord’ s miracles. They didn’t remember his many kind acts. At the Red Sea they refused to obey him.

對摩西說：『難道在埃及沒有墳墓，你得把我們帶來，死在曠野麼？你為甚麼這樣待我們，將我們從埃及領出來呢？我們在埃及豈沒有對你說過：「不要管我們，容我們去服事埃及人」麼？「服事埃及人、比死在曠野還好呀！」』

他們不追念着他大能的手，不追念他贖救了他們、脫離敵人的日子：

你要記得你在埃及地做過奴隸，永恆主你的上帝贖救了你；故此我今日將這件事吩咐你。

『因為他們是缺乏智謀的國，他們心中毫無聰明。只要他們有智慧，就會明白這事，就肯思想他們自己的結局了。

因為主雖使人受苦，還要照他豐盛的堅愛施憐憫。

他們不知道，也不明白，因為他們的眼被塗抹了，以致不能看見，他們的心蒙蔽了，以致不能了解。

但是到今日永恆主還沒有給你們能明白的心、能看見的眼、能聽見的耳。

永恆主的堅愛、我要懷念着，永恆主可頌可讚的事、我要使人記得，照永恆主所宏施給我們的一切事，和豐盛的慈惠給以色列家，就是他照他的憐憫，照他堅愛之豐盛所宏施給他們的。

使「他們看了又看，卻看不見；聽了又聽，卻不曉悟；免得他們回轉過來，而得赦免！」』

於是他為了他們的緣故就記起他的約，照他堅愛之豐盛而後悔；

又忘了上帝所行的事、和他向他們所顯的奇妙作為。

他僕人亞伯拉罕的後裔啊，他揀選的人、雅各的子孫哪，你們要懷念他所行的奇妙作為，他的奇事、和他口中的判語。

至於我呢、我必憑你堅愛之豐盛進入你的殿；我必存敬畏你的心向你的聖殿堂敬拜。

上帝啊，按你堅固之愛恩待我！按你豐盛的慈悲塗抹我的過犯哦！

故此你們要記得、你們從前在肉身上做外國人、被那所謂割禮、在肉身上用人手行的、稱為沒受割禮；

耶穌覺得了，便對他們說：『為甚麼議論你們沒有餅的事呢？你們還不了解，不曉悟麼？還存着你們那愚頑的心麼？你們有眼看不見麼？有耳聽不見麼？也不記得麼？我擘開五個餅給五千人，你們撿起碎片兒來，幾籃子滿滿呢？』他們對他說：『十二籃子。』『又七個餅給四千人，你們撿起碎片兒來、幾籃子滿滿呢？』他們對他說：『七筐子。』耶穌對他們說：『你們還不曉悟麼？』

『你們愚蠢人喜愛愚蠢，要到幾時呢？你們褻慢人喜歡褻慢，愚頑人恨惡知識，要到幾時呢？
