Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.For rebellion is as reprehensible as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as reprehensible as false religion and idolatry. Now the Lord was with Judah, and they took possession of the hill country; but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had iron chariots.

Now go and strike Amalek and completely destroy everything that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”

But they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites live in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and they became forced laborers.

But the Lord your God will turn them over to you, and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.And He will hand over their kings to you, so that you will eliminate their name from under heaven; no one will be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them.
