民在米利巴水、復干厥怒、累及摩西兮、

在米利巴水濱、民干主怒摩西因此、亦遭患難兮、

民在米利巴水干犯主怒、摩西亦因之遭遇患難、

風波之地。民亦忤主。每瑟受累。實為彼故。

By the waters of Meribah they angered the Lord, and trouble came to Moses because of them;

By the waters of Meribah the Lord’ s people made him angry. Moses got in trouble because of them.

They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account,

At Meribah, too, they angered the Lord, causing Moses serious trouble.

They angered the LORD at the Waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,

They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, So that it went badly for Moses on their account.

They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;

They angered[ him] also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,

You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

The Lord was also angry with me for your sakes, saying,‘ Even you shall not go in there.

Now there was no water for the congregation; so they gathered together against Moses and Aaron.And the people contended with Moses and spoke, saying:“ If only we had died when our brethren died before the Lord!Why have you brought up the assembly of the Lord into this wilderness, that we and our animals should die here?And why have you made us come up out of Egypt, to bring us to this evil place? It is not a place of grain or figs or vines or pomegranates; nor is there any water to drink.”So Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and they fell on their faces. And the glory of the Lord appeared to them.Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.”So Moses took the rod from before the Lord as He commanded him.And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them,“ Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?”Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”This was the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel contended with the Lord, and He was hallowed among them.

And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor by the border of the land of Edom, saying:“ Aaron shall be gathered to his people, for he shall not enter the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against My word at the water of Meribah.

Furthermore the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that I would not cross over the Jordan, and that I would not enter the good land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered.For in the Wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against My command to hallow Me at the waters before their eyes.”( These are the waters of Meribah, at Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.)

How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, And grieved Him in the desert!

“ But the Lord was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me. So the Lord said to me:‘ Enough of that! Speak no more to Me of this matter.
