They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,

他們因了米利巴水的緣故惹了永恆主的震怒，以致摩西為了他們的緣故也喫虧受損；

他們又在米利巴的水邊惹神發怒，以致摩西也因他們的緣故受了虧損；

民在米利巴水、復干厥怒、累及摩西兮、

在米利巴水濱、民干主怒摩西因此、亦遭患難兮、

民在米利巴水干犯主怒、摩西亦因之遭遇患難、

風波之地。民亦忤主。每瑟受累。實為彼故。

By the waters of Meribah they angered the Lord, and trouble came to Moses because of them;

By the waters of Meribah the Lord’ s people made him angry. Moses got in trouble because of them.

They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account,

At Meribah, too, they angered the Lord, causing Moses serious trouble.

They angered the LORD at the Waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,

They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, So that it went badly for Moses on their account.

They angered Him also at the waters of strife, So that it went ill with Moses on account of them;

They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;

They angered the Lord at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them;

They angered[ him] also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

In your distress you called out and I rescued you. I answered you from a dark thundercloud. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.( Selah)

As for me, the LORD was also angry with me on your account. He said,“ You also will not be able to go there.

And there was no water for the community, and so they gathered themselves together against Moses and Aaron.The people contended with Moses, saying,“ If only we had died when our brothers died before the LORD!Why have you brought up the LORD’s community into this wilderness? So that we and our cattle should die here?Why have you brought us up from Egypt only to bring us to this dreadful place? It is no place for grain, or figs, or vines, or pomegranates; nor is there any water to drink!”So Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance to the tent of meeting. They then threw themselves down with their faces to the ground, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.Then the LORD spoke to Moses:“ Take the staff and assemble the community, you and Aaron your brother, and then speak to the rock before their eyes. It will pour forth its water, and you will bring water out of the rock for them, and so you will give the community and their beasts water to drink.”So Moses took the staff from before the LORD, just as he commanded him.Then Moses and Aaron gathered the community together in front of the rock, and he said to them,“ Listen, you rebels, must we bring water out of this rock for you?”Then Moses raised his hand, and struck the rock twice with his staff. And water came out abundantly. So the community drank, and their beasts drank too.Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust me enough to show me as holy before the Israelites, therefore you will not bring this community into the land I have given them.”These are the waters of Meribah, because the Israelites contended with the LORD, and his holiness was maintained among them.

And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom. He said:“ Aaron will be gathered to his ancestors, for he will not enter into the land I have given to the Israelites because both of you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.

But the LORD became angry with me because of you and vowed that I would never cross the Jordan nor enter the good land that he is about to give you.

When you have seen it, you will be gathered to your ancestors, as Aaron your brother was gathered to his ancestors.For in the wilderness of Zin when the community rebelled against me, you rebelled against my command to show me as holy before their eyes over the water– the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.”

How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and insulted him in the desert!

But the LORD was angry at me because of you and would not listen to me. Instead, he said to me,“ Enough of that! Do not speak to me anymore about this matter.
