They angered the LORD at the Waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,

風波之地。民亦忤主。每瑟受累。實為彼故。

By the waters of Meribah they angered the Lord, and trouble came to Moses because of them;

By the waters of Meribah the Lord’ s people made him angry. Moses got in trouble because of them.

They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account,

At Meribah, too, they angered the Lord, causing Moses serious trouble.

They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, So that it went badly for Moses on their account.

They angered Him also at the waters of strife, So that it went ill with Moses on account of them;

They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;

They angered the Lord at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them;

They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,

You called out in distress, and I rescued you; I answered you from the thundercloud. I tested you at the Waters of Meribah. Selah

“ The LORD was angry with me also because of you and said,‘ You will not enter there either.

There was no water for the community, so they assembled against Moses and Aaron.The people quarreled with Moses and said,“ If only we had perished when our brothers perished before the LORD.Why have you brought the LORD’s assembly into this wilderness for us and our livestock to die here?Why have you led us up from Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It’s not a place of grain, figs, vines, and pomegranates, and there is no water to drink!”Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the doorway of the tent of meeting. They fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.The LORD spoke to Moses,“ Take the staff and assemble the community. You and your brother Aaron are to speak to the rock while they watch, and it will yield its water. You will bring out water for them from the rock and provide drink for the community and their livestock.”So Moses took the staff from the LORD’s presence just as he had commanded him.Moses and Aaron summoned the assembly in front of the rock, and Moses said to them,“ Listen, you rebels! Must we bring water out of this rock for you?”Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff, so that abundant water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust me to demonstrate my holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.”These are the Waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD, and he demonstrated his holiness to them.

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor on the border of the land of Edom,“ Aaron will be gathered to his people; he will not enter the land I have given the Israelites, because you both rebelled against my command at the Waters of Meribah.

“ The LORD was angry with me on your account. He swore that I would not cross the Jordan and enter the good land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

After you have seen it, you will also be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was.When the community quarreled in the Wilderness of Zin, both of you rebelled against my command to demonstrate my holiness in their sight at the waters.” Those were the Waters of Meribah-kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.

How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert.

“ But the LORD was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me. The LORD said to me,‘ That’s enough! Do not speak to me again about this matter.
