是以上帝有言、必翦滅之、惟所選之摩西、當其衝、立其前、挽回其怒、免行翦滅兮、

於是欲加翦滅、惟有摩西、為上帝所遴選、代民祈求、爰息震怒、不殲斯族兮、

惟時主云將翦滅之、幸有主所選之摩西、立於主前、挽回主怒、不行誅戮、

若非每瑟。為之緩頰。彼代之人。久矣絕跡。

So he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them.

我因耶和華言、必殲滅爾、伏於耶和華前、四十晝夜、

我於其中、欲覓一人、以築垣墉、為國立於缺處、在於我前、免我殲滅、而不可得、

又曰、我觀斯民、強項者流、爾且聽我、我殲滅之、塗其名於天下、使爾後裔為國、較彼尤大且強、

爾其往來於耶路撒冷之衢、於其寬廣之區察視之、索一行公義求信實者、若有之、我必宥斯邑、

語可拉及其黨曰、詰朝、耶和華必明示爾曹、誰屬之、誰為聖、俾進其前、彼所簡者、得以近之、

今爾若宥其罪、不然、則塗我名於爾册、

我居於山、四十晝夜如昔、此次耶和華又復垂聽、不殲滅爾、

爾且聽我、予赫斯怒、盡滅是族、使爾後裔成為大邦、摩西祈其上帝耶和華曰、耶和華歟、爾以巨能大力、導爾民出埃及、今何怒之甚乎、胡令埃及人云、彼導之出、乃欲加害、殺之山中、滅之地上、請爾回意、息厥烈怒、不降禍於爾民、求憶爾僕亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列、昔爾指己而誓、必昌厥後、如天星之多、錫以所言之地、俾其永居、耶和華乃回意、不降禍於其民、○

爰遣其僕摩西、與所選之亞倫、

爾未上至破壞之處、亦未為以色列家之垣墉、在於耶和華之日、堅立於陳、

惟彼違逆、而不聽我、不棄所慕可惡之物、不離埃及之偶像、故彼尚在埃及、我曰、必傾我怒、盡洩我忿於其身、

爾若屬世、世必愛屬己者、爾非屬世、乃我選爾出乎世、故世惡爾焉、

宜彼此認罪、互相祈禱、致可得愈、蓋義者之懇求、大有成效也、

試觀我僕、乃我所選、所愛、而心悅者、我將以我神賦之、彼將以義示異邦、

耶和華忿怒威烈、將殲滅爾、我畏懼之、然彼尚允我所祈、

非爾選我、乃我選爾立爾、俾爾往而實、且俾爾實恆存、致爾以我名求父者、父則賜爾、

惟以色列家在曠野、悖逆乎我、不循我典章、棄我律例、人若遵行、則緣之得生、且犯我安息日特甚、我則曰、必在曠野、傾我怒以滅之、然為我名之故、別有施行、免我名見辱於列國、以其見我導之出也、
