Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him,“ Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,for I will give all the land which you see to you and to your offspring forever.I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be counted.Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you.”

Yahweh appeared to Abram and said,“ I will give this land to your offspring.” He built an altar there to Yahweh, who had appeared to him.

Not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations,the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac,and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute; to Israel for an everlasting covenant,saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance,”
