He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate— bringing forth food from the earth:

上帝說：『地要發生青草、和結種子的菜蔬、跟結果子的樹在地上，各從其類，果子裏有種子：』就這樣成了。於是地生出了青草，和結種子的菜蔬，各從其類，跟結果子的樹，各從其類，果子裏有種子。上帝看這很好。

上帝說：『看哪，我將全地上結種子的各樣菜蔬、和各樣的樹、樹上有果實結種子的、都賜給你們做食物。至於地上各樣走獸、空中各樣飛鳥、和爬在地上的各樣活物、裏面有生命的、我卻將菜蔬所有的青葉子給他們做食物：』就這樣成了。

萬物的眼都仰望着你；你按時節給他們食物。你展開了手，使眾生都隨願飽足。

連田野間的母鹿也剛生產就撇棄，因為沒有青草。野驢站在無草木的高處上，好像野狗在喘氣；他們的眼都失明，因為沒有草喫。

使窮荒淒涼之地得以豐足，渴澤之地能生嫩草呢？

永恆主上帝使各樣的樹從土地裏長起來：看了可喜愛，做食品好喫。園子當中又有生命樹和知識樹，能使人分別善惡。

所以栽種的算不了甚麼，澆灌的也算不了甚麼，惟獨使他長大的上帝乃是一切之一切。

亞哈對俄巴底說：『你走遍這地，到所有的水泉旁、和所有的谿谷中，或者我們可以找到一些青草，把騾馬救活，免得將牲口剪滅掉了。』

地上還沒有草木，田野的菜蔬還沒有長起來，因為永恆主上帝還沒有降雨在地上，也沒有人耕種土地；

你種地，地必不再給你效力：你必流離飄蕩於地上。』
