即其瓦礫、爾僕亦悅之、即其塵沙、爾僕亦愛之兮。

主之僕人、喜悅郇之石、珍愛郇之塵土、

吾主必興起。愍我西溫卑。西溫卑已極。蒙寵宜今茲。

For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity.

The stones of your destroyed city are priceless to us. Even its dust brings deep concern to us.

For your servants hold her stones dear and have pity on her dust.

For your people love every stone in her walls and cherish even the dust in her streets.

For your servants take delight in its stones and favor its dust.

And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What are these feeble Jews doing? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, seeing they are burned?

O God, the nations are come into thine inheritance; Thy holy temple have they defiled; They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt- offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.And they set the altar upon its base; for fear was upon them because of the peoples of the countries: and they offered burnt- offerings thereon unto Jehovah, even burnt- offerings morning and evening.

Blessed be Jehovah, the God of our fathers, who hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem;

Then said I unto them, Ye see the evil case that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

For they have devoured Jacob, And laid waste his habitation.Remember not against us the iniquities of our forefathers: Let thy tender mercies speedily meet us; For we are brought very low.Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name; And deliver us, and forgive our sins, for thy name’s sake.Wherefore should the nations say, Where is their God? Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed Be known among the nations in our sight.

O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, let thine anger and thy wrath, I pray thee, be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are round about us.

And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.

And I said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
