You were very angry with me. So you picked me up and threw me away.

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Now in my prosperity I said,“ I shall never be moved.”Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.

Why should a living man complain, A man for the punishment of his sins?Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the Lord;Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven.We have transgressed and rebelled; You have not pardoned.

For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified.You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh.

“ O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him.And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such has never been done as what has been done to Jerusalem.“ As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us; yet we have not made our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth.Therefore the Lord has kept the disaster in mind, and brought it upon us; for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice.

Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction.Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.As a dream when one awakes, So, Lord, when You awake, You shall despise their image.

The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up.He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set them among princes And make them inherit the throne of glory.“ For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, And He has set the world upon them.

“ The Lord is righteous, For I rebelled against His commandment. Hear now, all peoples, And behold my sorrow; My virgins and my young men Have gone into captivity.

But if you go, be gone! Be strong in battle! Even so, God shall make you fall before the enemy; for God has power to help and to overthrow.”
