From the most remote place on earth I call out to you in my despair. Lead me up to an inaccessible rocky summit!

In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried out to my God. From his heavenly temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.

During that long period of time the king of Egypt died, and the Israelites groaned because of the slave labor. They cried out, and their desperate cry because of their slave labor went up to God.

The priests and Levites got up and pronounced blessings on the people. The LORD responded favorably to them as their prayers reached his holy dwelling place in heaven.

Also, when I cry out desperately for help, he has shut out my prayer.

But Hannah replied,“ That’s not the way it is, my lord! I am under a great deal of stress. I have drunk neither wine nor beer. Rather, I have poured out my soul to the LORD.Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman, for until now I have spoken from my deep pain and anguish.”

Deliver me, O God, for the water has reached my neck.I sink into the deep mire where there is no solid ground; I am in deep water, and the current overpowers me.

“ At this time tomorrow I will send to you a man from the land of Benjamin. You must consecrate him as a leader over my people Israel. He will save my people from the hand of the Philistines. For I have looked with favor on my people. Their cry has reached me!”

Hear my prayer, O LORD! Listen to my cry for help! Do not ignore my sobbing! For I am dependent on you, like one residing outside his native land; I am at your mercy, just as all my ancestors were.

You shrouded yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can get through.

Answer me quickly, LORD! My strength is fading. Do not reject me, or I will join those descending into the grave.

During his earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.

My strength leaves me; I am absolutely shocked.

I pour out my lament before him; I tell him about my troubles.Even when my strength leaves me, you watch my footsteps. In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me.

They threw away the foreign gods they owned and worshiped the LORD. Finally the LORD grew tired of seeing Israel suffer so much.

Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for I am praying to you!

From the deep water I cry out to you, O LORD.O Lord, listen to me! Pay attention to my plea for mercy!

Listen, O God, to my prayer! Do not ignore my appeal for mercy!Pay attention to me and answer me! I am so upset and distressed, I am beside myself,because of what the enemy says, and because of how the wicked pressure me, for they hurl trouble down upon me and angrily attack me.My heart beats violently within me; the horrors of death overcome me.Fear and panic overpower me; terror overwhelms me.

He satisfies the desire of his loyal followers; he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

So I said,“ My endurance has expired; I have lost all hope of deliverance from the Lord.”ז( Zayin)Remember my impoverished and homeless condition, which is a bitter poison.I continually think about this, and I am depressed.

How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly! When trouble comes, the LORD delivers him.May the LORD protect him and save his life! May he be blessed in the land! Do not turn him over to his enemies!

Have mercy on me, O God! Have mercy on me! For in you I have taken shelter. In the shadow of your wings I take shelter until trouble passes.I cry out for help to the sovereign God, to the God who vindicates me.May he send help from heaven and deliver me from my enemies who hurl insults!( Selah) May God send his loyal love and faithfulness!

I will remember and weep! For I was once walking along with the great throng to the temple of God, shouting and giving thanks along with the crowd as we celebrated the holy festival.

Trust in him at all times, you people! Pour out your hearts before him! God is our shelter!( Selah)

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.He said to them,“ My soul is deeply grieved, even to the point of death. Remain here and stay alert.”

“ Because of the violence done to the oppressed, because of the painful cries of the needy, I will spring into action,” says the LORD.“ I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.”

I said,“ I will remember God while I groan; I will think about him while my strength leaves me.”( Selah)
