驕矜自慢兮。目無主宰。刼奪人財兮。逍遙法外。

He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.

He brags about what his heart desires. He speaks well of those who always want more. He attacks the Lord with his words.

For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord.

For they brag about their evil desires; they praise the greedy and curse the Lord.

For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings; the one who is greedy curses and despises the LORD.

For the wicked boasts of his soul’s desire, And the greedy person curses and shows disrespect to the Lord.

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.

For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, And the covetous renounceth, yea, contemneth Jehovah.

For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous,[ whom] the LORD abhorreth.

Yes, the wicked man boasts because he gets what he wants; the one who robs others curses and rejects the LORD.

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s cravings. He blesses the greedy and condemns Yahweh.

They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.

But you have eyes and a heart for nothing except your own dishonest profit, shedding innocent blood and committing extortion and oppression.

Are there still the treasures of wickedness and the accursed short measure in the house of the wicked?Can I excuse wicked scales or bags of deceptive weights?For the wealthy of the city are full of violence, and its residents speak lies; the tongues in their mouths are deceitful.

Then I’ll say to myself,“ You have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.”’

They trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches.

Those who buy them slaughter them but are not punished. Those who sell them say: Praise the Lord because I have become rich! Even their own shepherds have no compassion for them.Indeed, I will no longer have compassion on the inhabitants of the land”— this is the Lord’s declaration.“ Instead, I will turn everyone over to his neighbor and his king. They will devastate the land, and I will not deliver it from them.”So I shepherded the flock intended for slaughter, the afflicted of the flock. I took two staffs, calling one Favor and the other Union, and I shepherded the flock.In one month I got rid of three shepherds. I became impatient with them, and they also detested me.

Their graves are their eternal homes, their homes from generation to generation, though they have named estates after themselves.But despite his assets, man will not last; he is like the animals that perish.This is the way of those who are arrogant, and of their followers, who approve of their words. You destroy those who tell lies; the Lord abhors a man of bloodshed and treachery.

Who is it you have mocked and blasphemed? Who have you raised your voice against and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

A merchant loves to extort with dishonest scales in his hands.But Ephraim says:“ How rich I have become; I made it all myself. In all my earnings, no one can find any crime in me that I can be punished for!”

“ May you be blessed by the Lord,” replied Saul,“ for you have taken pity on me.

They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,

Those who reject the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law battle against them.

If I placed my confidence in gold or called fine gold my trust,

The enemy said:“ I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil. My desire will be gratified at their expense. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.”

Because of his sinful greed I was angry, so I struck him; I was angry and hid; but he went on turning back to the desires of his heart.

He then told them,“ Watch out and be on guard against all greed because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and heap your dead bodies on the lifeless bodies of your idols; I will reject you.

Although they know full well God’s just sentence— that those who practice such things deserve to die— they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them.

But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.

Do not love the world or the things that belong to the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.

For know and recognize this: Every sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, who is an idolater, does not have an inheritance in the kingdom of the Messiah and of God.

Therefore, put to death what belongs to your worldly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

Come now, you who say,“ Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.”

and said,“ What are you willing to give me if I hand Him over to you?” So they weighed out 30 pieces of silver for him.And from that time he started looking for a good opportunity to betray Him.

Why brag about evil, you hero! God’s faithful love is constant.

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and scoffing at Him.And He told them:“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God’s sight.

They open their mouths wide against me and say,“ Aha, aha! We saw it!”

But this is not what he intends; this is not what he plans. It is his intent to destroy and to cut off many nations.For he says,“ Aren’t all my commanders kings?Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?As my hand seized the idolatrous kingdoms, whose idols exceeded those of Jerusalem and Samaria,and as I did to Samaria and its idols will I not also do to Jerusalem and its idols?”

Though he praises himself during his lifetime— and people praise you when you do well for yourself—

no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom.

Woe to him who dishonestly makes wealth for his house to place his nest on high, to escape from the reach of disaster!

When the Lord saw this, He despised them, provoked to anger by His sons and daughters.

When someone hears the words of this oath, he may consider himself exempt, thinking,‘ I will have peace even though I follow my own stubborn heart.’ This will lead to the destruction of the well-watered land as well as the dry land.

They mock, and they speak maliciously; they arrogantly threaten oppression.They set their mouths against heaven, and their tongues strut across the earth.

But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
