You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,

Lord, you hear the desires of those who are hurting. You cheer them up and give them hope. You listen to their cries.

Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.

LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully,

Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will make Your ear attentive

Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear,

Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek: Thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear;

Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully,

LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

LORD, you have heard the request of the oppressed; you make them feel secure because you listen to their prayer.

Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,

O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.

He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.

Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.

But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying,‘ God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.

because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and its inhabitants, and you have humbled yourself before me and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the Lord.

For he who avenges blood is mindful of them; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison.And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying,“ Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands.And the angel said to him,“ Dress yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him,“ Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.”And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him.When Peter came to himself, he said,“ Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.”When he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose other name was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying.And when he knocked at the door of the gateway, a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer.Recognizing Peter’s voice, in her joy she did not open the gate but ran in and reported that Peter was standing at the gate.They said to her,“ You are out of your mind.” But she kept insisting that it was so, and they kept saying,“ It is his angel!”But Peter continued knocking, and when they opened, they saw him and were amazed.But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said,“ Tell these things to James and to the brothers.” Then he departed and went to another place.Now when day came, there was no little disturbance among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.And after Herod searched for him and did not find him, he examined the sentries and ordered that they should be put to death. Then he went down from Judea to Caesarea and spent time there.

in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.

He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.

What the wicked dreads will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

But he gives more grace. Therefore it says,“ God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because God had provided for the people, for the thing came about suddenly.

For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said,“ Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them,who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit,“‘ Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain?The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’—for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him.
