You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,

Lord, you hear the desires of those who are hurting. You cheer them up and give them hope. You listen to their cries.

O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear

Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.

LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully,

O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee;

He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.

And it shall come to pass that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner.I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

For the needy shall not alway be forgotten, Nor the expectation of the poor perish for ever.

because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and hast humbled thyself before me, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah.

For he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them; He forgetteth not the cry of the poor.

And when he was in distress, he besought Jehovah his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.And he prayed unto him; and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovah he was God.

The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are open unto their cry.

Also upon Judah came the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of Jehovah.

He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, And hath not despised their prayer.

Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.

The plans of the heart belong to man; But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall exalt you.

Peter therefore was kept in the prison: but prayer was made earnestly of the church unto God for him.And when Herod was about to bring him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and guards before the door kept the prison.And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shined in the cell: and he smote Peter on the side, and awoke him, saying, Rise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And he did so. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.And he went out, and followed; and he knew not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision.And when they were past the first and the second guard, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth into the city; which opened to them of its own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and straightway the angel departed from him.And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a truth, that the Lord hath sent forth his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together and were praying.And when he knocked at the door of the gate, a maid came to answer, named Rhoda.And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for joy, but ran in, and told that Peter stood before the gate.And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she confidently affirmed that it was even so. And they said, It is his angel.But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed.But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him forth out of the prison. And he said, Tell these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went to another place.Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the guards, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judæa to Cæsarea, and tarried there.

in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: His heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah.His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, Until he see his desire upon his adversaries.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore the scripture saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered;

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.
