For it is impossible in the case of those who have once been enlightened, tasted the heavenly gift, become partakers of the Holy Spirit,tasted the good word of God and the miracles of the coming age,and then have committed apostasy, to renew them again to repentance, since they are crucifying the Son of God for themselves all over again and holding him up to contempt.For the ground that has soaked up the rain that frequently falls on it and yields useful vegetation for those who tend it receives a blessing from God.But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is useless and about to be cursed; its fate is to be burned.

The one who stiffens his neck after numerous rebukes will suddenly be destroyed without remedy.

You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely reprove your fellow citizen so that you do not incur sin on account of him.

The one who reproves another will in the end find more favor than the one who flatters with the tongue.

And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as also our dear brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him,speaking of these things in all his letters. Some things in these letters are hard to understand, things the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they also do to the rest of the scriptures.

Nathan said to David,“ You are that man! This is what the LORD God of Israel says:‘ I chose you to be king over Israel and I rescued you from the hand of Saul.I gave you your master’s house, and put your master’s wives into your arms. I also gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all that somehow seems insignificant, I would have given you so much more as well!Why have you shown contempt for the word of the LORD by doing evil in my sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and you have taken his wife as your own! You have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.So now the sword will never depart from your house. For you have despised me by taking the wife of Uriah the Hittite as your own!’This is what the LORD says:‘ I am about to bring disaster on you from inside your own household! Right before your eyes I will take your wives and hand them over to your companion. He will have sexual relations with your wives in broad daylight!Although you have acted in secret, I will do this thing before all Israel, and in broad daylight.’”Then David exclaimed to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the LORD!” Nathan replied to David,“ Yes, and the LORD has forgiven your sin. You are not going to die.Nonetheless, because you have treated the LORD with such contempt in this matter, the son who has been born to you will certainly die.”

Leave them! They are blind guides. If someone who is blind leads another who is blind, both will fall into a pit.”

And Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, two of those who had investigated the land, tore their garments.They said to the whole community of the Israelites,“ The land we passed through to investigate is an exceedingly good land.If the LORD delights in us, then he will bring us into this land and give it to us– a land that is flowing with milk and honey.Only do not rebel against the LORD, and do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection has turned aside from them, but the LORD is with us. Do not fear them!”However, the whole community threatened to stone them. But the glory of the LORD appeared to all the Israelites at the tent of meeting.

The king was told,“ Nathan the prophet is here.” Nathan entered and bowed before the king with his face to the floor.

King David said,“ Summon Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king,

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man through whom we can seek the LORD’s will. But I despise him because he does not prophesy prosperity for me, but disaster. His name is Micaiah son of Imlah. Jehoshaphat said,“ The king should not say such things.”

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he had clearly done wrong.Until certain people came from James, he had been eating with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he stopped doing this and separated himself because he was afraid of those who were pro- circumcision.And the rest of the Jews also joined with him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray with them by their hypocrisy.But when I saw that they were not behaving consistently with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all,“ If you, although you are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you try to force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”
