怠惰者歟、偃臥何其久、寢睡何時興、

惟爾懈惰思寢、何時得寤。

怠惰之人、爾偃息將至何時、爾寢臥何時方起、

How long will you stay in bed, you slacker? When will you get up from your sleep?

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep;So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man.

Consider, ye brutish among the people; And ye fools, when will ye be wise?

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And scoffers delight them in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?

And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep: for now is salvation nearer to us than when we first believed.
