Rescue me, O Lord, from liars and from all deceitful people.O deceptive tongue, what will God do to you? How will he increase your punishment?

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.

When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.

You will destroy those who tell lies. The Lord detests murderers and deceivers.

I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride.

You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud.

who had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood. The Lord would not forgive this.

Human pride will be brought down, and human arrogance will be humbled. Only the Lord will be exalted on that day of judgment.

Hear the word of the Lord, O people of Israel! The Lord has brought charges against you, saying:“ There is no faithfulness, no kindness, no knowledge of God in your land.You make vows and break them; you kill and steal and commit adultery. There is violence everywhere— one murder after another.

They may say,“ Come and join us. Let’s hide and kill someone! Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent!

They look proudly around, casting disdainful glances.

An honest witness does not lie; a false witness breathes lies.

Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin.

The very look on their faces gives them away. They display their sin like the people of Sodom and don’t even try to hide it. They are doomed! They have brought destruction upon themselves.

‘ Cursed is anyone who accepts payment to kill an innocent person.’ And all the people will reply,‘ Amen.’

The Lord says,“ Beautiful Zion is haughty: craning her elegant neck, flirting with her eyes, walking with dainty steps, tinkling her ankle bracelets.

A lying tongue hates its victims, and flattering words cause ruin.

Your hands are the hands of murderers, and your fingers are filthy with sin. Your lips are full of lies, and your mouth spews corruption.No one cares about being fair and honest. The people’s lawsuits are based on lies. They conceive evil deeds and then give birth to sin.They hatch deadly snakes and weave spiders’ webs. Whoever eats their eggs will die; whoever cracks them will hatch a viper.Their webs can’t be made into clothing, and nothing they do is productive. All their activity is filled with sin, and violence is their trademark.Their feet run to do evil, and they rush to commit murder. They think only about sinning. Misery and destruction always follow them.

That way you will prevent the death of innocent people in the land the Lord your God is giving you as your special possession. You will not be held responsible for the death of innocent people.

They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty.These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for!They scoff and speak only evil; in their pride they seek to crush others.

For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The wicked are too proud to seek God. They seem to think that God is dead.

Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp.

In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for“ God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Silence their lying lips— those proud and arrogant lips that accuse the godly.

Outside the city are the dogs— the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.

Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool; even less are lies fitting for a ruler.
