The Lord hates proud eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that kill those who aren’t guilty.

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.

When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!

you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, Lord, detest.

Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not tolerate.

You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.

including the shedding of innocent blood. For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to forgive.

The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land:“ There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.

If they say,“ Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for innocent blood, let’s ambush some harmless soul;

those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful;

An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.

Haughty eyes and a proud heart— the unplowed field of the wicked— produce sin.

The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

“ Cursed is anyone who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person.” Then all the people shall say,“ Amen!”

The Lord says,“ The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, strutting along with swaying hips, with ornaments jingling on their ankles.

A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken falsely, and your tongue mutters wicked things.No one calls for justice; no one pleads a case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments, they utter lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil.They hatch the eggs of vipers and spin a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die, and when one is broken, an adder is hatched.Their cobwebs are useless for clothing; they cannot cover themselves with what they make. Their deeds are evil deeds, and acts of violence are in their hands.Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.

Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.

Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence.From their callous hearts comes iniquity; their evil imaginations have no limits.They scoff, and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression.

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.

Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool— how much worse lying lips to a ruler!
