My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbor, If thou hast stricken thy hands for a stranger;

我儿，你若为朋友作保，替外人击掌，

我儿啊，你若为朋友担保，替陌生人击掌，

我儿啊，你若为朋友担保，替陌生人击掌，

孩子啊，你若为邻人作保，为外人击掌立约；

我儿，如果你作朋友的保证人，替外人击掌担保；

我儿啊，如果你为邻人作保，为别人击掌起誓，

我兒，你若為朋友作保，替外人擊掌，

我兒啊，你若為朋友擔保，替陌生人擊掌，

我兒啊，你若為朋友擔保，替陌生人擊掌，

孩子啊，你若為鄰人作保，為外人擊掌立約；

我兒，如果你作朋友的保證人，替外人擊掌擔保；

弟子啊，你若為朋友作保，替陌生人擊掌擔保，

我兒啊，如果你為鄰人作保，為別人擊掌起誓，

我子、爾若為鄰作保、為人拊掌、

爾小子、如爾為人中保、已有成言、自貽伊戚、

我子、如爾為友作保、或為外人之事擊掌、擊掌亦作保之義

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,

My son, don’t promise to pay for what your neighbor owes. Don’t agree to pay a stranger’s bill.

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, have given your pledge for a stranger,

My child, if you have put up security for a friend’s debt or agreed to guarantee the debt of a stranger—

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor or entered into an agreement with a stranger,

My son, if you have become a guarantor for your neighbor, Or have given a handshake for a stranger,

My son, if you become surety for your friend, If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor or entered into an agreement with a stranger,

My son, if thou be surety for thy friend,[ if] thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

My child, if you have made a pledge for your neighbor, and have become a guarantor for a stranger,

My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger,

A man void of understanding striketh hands, And becometh surety in the presence of his neighbor.

Be thou not one of them that strike hands, Or of them that are sureties for debts.

He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it; But he that hateth suretyship is secure.

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge that is surety for foreigners.

I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:

But if he hath wronged thee at all, or oweth thee aught, put that to mine account;I Paul write it with mine own hand, I will repay it: that I say not unto thee that thou owest to me even thine own self besides.

For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then shall I bear the blame to my father for ever.Now therefore, let thy servant, I pray thee, abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

Give now a pledge, be surety for me with thyself; Who is there that will strike hands with me?

by so much also hath Jesus become the surety of a better covenant.
