And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

说：“我为何恨恶管教，心里轻看责备呢？

说：“我为何厌恶教诲，心里藐视责备！

说：“我为什么恨恶管教，我的心为什么轻视责备，

说：“我怎么就恨恶了管教呢？我的心怎么就藐视了责备呢？

說：我怎麼恨惡訓誨，心中藐視責備，

說：「我為何恨惡管教，心裏輕看責備呢？

說：「我為何恨惡管教，心裏輕看責備呢？

說：「我為何厭惡教誨，心裡藐視責備！

說：“我為甚麼恨惡管教，我的心為甚麼輕視責備，

說：『唉！我怎樣恨惡管教，我的心怎樣藐視勸責，

說：「我怎麼就恨惡了管教呢？我的心怎麼就藐視了責備呢？

乃曰、我何恨惡訓誨、心輕斥責、

曰、我不受教、藐視箴規、

曰、哀哉、我厭棄訓誨、心中藐視督責、

You will say,“ How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction!

You will say,“ How I hated to take advice! How my heart refused to be corrected!

and you say,“ How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!

You will say,“ How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings!

and you will say,“ How I hated discipline, and how my heart despised correction.

And you say,“ How I hated instruction! And my heart disdainfully rejected rebuke!

And say:“ How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction!

And say, How have I hated instruction, And my heart despised reproof;

and you will say,“ How I hated discipline, and how my heart despised correction.

And you will say,“ How I hated discipline! My heart spurned reproof!

and say,“ How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof[ is] brutish.

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

The fear of the LORD[ is] the beginning of knowledge:[ but] fools despise wisdom and instruction.

A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

Poverty and shame[ shall be to] him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.

And they said, Stand back. And they said[ again], This one[ fellow] came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man,[ even] Lot, and came near to break the door.

Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and[ from] your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.Your fathers, where[ are] they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

So foolish[ was] I, and ignorant: I was[ as] a beast before thee.

And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you.And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon[ it], and require[ it].

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending[ them], saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that[ the king] said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till[ there was] no remedy.

For the commandment[ is] a lamp; and the law[ is] light; and reproofs of instruction[ are] the way of life:

But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.Yea, they made their hearts[ as] an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.Therefore it is come to pass,[ that] as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
