My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.

Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes.

You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

“ And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart!“ I have worked hard to provide materials for building the Temple of the Lord— nearly 4,000 tons of gold, 40,000 tons of silver, and so much iron and bronze that it cannot be weighed. I have also gathered timber and stone for the walls, though you may need to add more.You have a large number of skilled stonemasons and carpenters and craftsmen of every kind.You have expert goldsmiths and silversmiths and workers of bronze and iron. Now begin the work, and may the Lord be with you!”

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

“ But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.

So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life.You must obey all my regulations and be careful to obey my decrees, for I am the Lord your God.If you obey my decrees and my regulations, you will find life through them. I am the Lord.
