There is a conspiracy of her prophets in her midst like a roaring lion tearing the prey. They have devoured lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in the midst of her.Her priests have done violence to My Law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the common, and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have closed their eyes from My Sabbaths, and I am defiled among them.Her leaders within her are like wolves tearing the prey, by shedding blood and destroying lives in order to make dishonest profit.And her prophets have coated with whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying,‘ This is what the Lord God says,’ when the Lord has not spoken.The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery, and they have oppressed the poor and needy, and have oppressed the stranger without justice.

Do all the workers of injustice not know, Who devour my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon the Lord?

This is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray: When they have something to bite with their teeth, They cry out,“ Peace!” But against him who puts nothing in their mouths They declare holy war.

Hear this, you who trample the needy, to put an end to the humble of the land,saying,“ When will the new moon be over, So that we may sell grain; And the Sabbath, so that we may open the wheat market, To make the ephah smaller and the shekel bigger, And to cheat with dishonest scales,So as to buy the helpless for money, And the needy for a pair of sandals, And that we may sell the refuse of the wheat?”

Behold, like wild donkeys in the wilderness They go out scavenging for food in their activity, As bread for their children in the desert.They harvest their feed in the field And glean the vineyard of the wicked.

Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of armies.You have lived for pleasure on the earth and lived luxuriously; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

Her leaders within her are roaring lions, Her judges are wolves at evening; They have no bones to gnaw in the morning.
