She will wear a rope for a sash, and her elegant hair will fall out. She will wear rough burlap instead of rich robes. Shame will replace her beauty.

“ Yes, my lord,” she answered,“ have a drink.” And she quickly lowered her jug from her shoulder and gave him a drink.When she had given him a drink, she said,“ I’ll draw water for your camels, too, until they have had enough to drink.”So she quickly emptied her jug into the watering trough and ran back to the well to draw water for all his camels.

See, I am standing here beside this spring, and the young women of the town are coming out to draw water.This is my request. I will ask one of them,‘ Please give me a drink from your jug.’ If she says,‘ Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’— let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife. This is how I will know that you have shown unfailing love to my master.”

So Abraham ran back to the tent and said to Sarah,“ Hurry! Get three large measures of your best flour, knead it into dough, and bake some bread.”Then Abraham ran out to the herd and chose a tender calf and gave it to his servant, who quickly prepared it.When the food was ready, Abraham took some yogurt and milk and the roasted meat, and he served it to the men. As they ate, Abraham waited on them in the shade of the trees.

So Ruth worked alongside the women in Boaz’s fields and gathered grain with them until the end of the barley harvest. Then she continued working with them through the wheat harvest in early summer. And all the while she lived with her mother in law.

So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them.But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said,“ Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!

So I advise these younger widows to marry again, have children, and take care of their own homes. Then the enemy will not be able to say anything against them.
