No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

It is not in heaven, that you should say,‘ Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

He binds up the water in His thick clouds, Yet the clouds are not broken under it.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, Measured heaven with a span And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales And the hills in a balance?Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, Or as His counselor has taught Him?With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, And taught Him in the path of justice? Who taught Him knowledge, And showed Him the way of understanding?Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, And are counted as the small dust on the scales; Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing.And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering.All nations before Him are as nothing, And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him?The workman molds an image, The goldsmith overspreads it with gold, And the silversmith casts silver chains.Whoever is too impoverished for such a contribution Chooses a tree that will not rot; He seeks for himself a skillful workman To prepare a carved image that will not totter.Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless.Scarcely shall they be planted, Scarcely shall they be sown, Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, When He will also blow on them, And they will wither, And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.“ To whom then will you liken Me, Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing.Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel:“ My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God”?Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way,“ Do not say in your heart,‘ Who will ascend into heaven?’”( that is, to bring Christ down from above)

His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.

Therefore He says:“ When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”( Now this,“ He ascended”— what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

Then Moses said to God,“ Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them,‘ The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me,‘ What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”And God said to Moses,“ I AM WHO I AM.” And He said,“ Thus you shall say to the children of Israel,‘ I AM has sent me to you.’”Moreover God said to Moses,“ Thus you shall say to the children of Israel:‘ The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

Now the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed,“ The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”

“ I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me,‘ You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.

“ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?“ Or who shut in the sea with doors, When it burst forth and issued from the womb;When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band;When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors;When I said,‘ This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!’“ Have you commanded the morning since your days began, And caused the dawn to know its place,That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?It takes on form like clay under a seal, And stands out like a garment.From the wicked their light is withheld, And the upraised arm is broken.“ Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths?Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this.“ Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place,That you may take it to its territory, That you may know the paths to its home?Do you know it, because you were born then, Or because the number of your days is great?“ Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail,Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, For the day of battle and war?By what way is light diffused, Or the east wind scattered over the earth?“ Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water, Or a path for the thunderbolt,To cause it to rain on a land where there is no one, A wilderness in which there is no man;To satisfy the desolate waste, And cause to spring forth the growth of tender grass?Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?From whose womb comes the ice? And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth?The waters harden like stone, And the surface of the deep is frozen.“ Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion?Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth?“ Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, That an abundance of water may cover you?Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, And say to you,‘ Here we are!’?Who has put wisdom in the mind? Or who has given understanding to the heart?Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven,When the dust hardens in clumps, And the clods cling together?“ Can you hunt the prey for the lion, Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,When they crouch in their dens, Or lurk in their lairs to lie in wait?Who provides food for the raven, When its young ones cry to God, And wander about for lack of food?

Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters, Who makes the clouds His chariot, Who walks on the wings of the wind,Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire.You who laid the foundations of the earth, So that it should not be moved forever,You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters stood above the mountains.At Your rebuke they fled; At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.They went up over the mountains; They went down into the valleys, To the place which You founded for them.You have set a boundary that they may not pass over, That they may not return to cover the earth.He sends the springs into the valleys; They flow among the hills.They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst.By them the birds of the heavens have their home; They sing among the branches.He waters the hills from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works.He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the service of man, That he may bring forth food from the earth,And wine that makes glad the heart of man, Oil to make his face shine, And bread which strengthens man’s heart.The trees of the Lord are full of sap, The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,Where the birds make their nests; The stork has her home in the fir trees.The high hills are for the wild goats; The cliffs are a refuge for the rock badgers.He appointed the moon for seasons; The sun knows its going down.You make darkness, and it is night, In which all the beasts of the forest creep about.The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God.When the sun rises, they gather together And lie down in their dens.Man goes out to his work And to his labor until the evening.O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions—This great and wide sea, In which are innumerable teeming things, Living things both small and great.There the ships sail about; There is that Leviathan Which You have made to play there.These all wait for You, That You may give them their food in due season.What You give them they gather in; You open Your hand, they are filled with good.You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth.May the glory of the Lord endure forever; May the Lord rejoice in His works.He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the hills, and they smoke.I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord.May sinners be consumed from the earth, And the wicked be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul! Praise the Lord!

“ If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD,

And the Angel of the Lord said to him,“ Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful?”

In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You.

You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts among men, Even from the rebellious, That the Lord God might dwell there.

Then Jacob asked, saying,“ Tell me Your name, I pray.” And He said,“ Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.

All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters.

I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name Lord I was not known to them.
