Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

Also the schemes of the schemer are evil; He devises wicked plans To destroy the poor with lying words, Even when the needy speaks justice.

Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, Who oppress the poor, Who crush the needy, Who say to your husbands,“ Bring wine, let us drink!”

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

You thrust through with his own arrows The head of his villages. They came out like a whirlwind to scatter me; Their rejoicing was like feasting on the poor in secret.

Her princes in her midst are roaring lions; Her judges are evening wolves That leave not a bone till morning.

He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.

And I said:“ Hear now, O heads of Jacob, And you rulers of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice?You who hate good and love evil; Who strip the skin from My people, And the flesh from their bones;Who also eat the flesh of My people, Flay their skin from them, Break their bones, And chop them in pieces Like meat for the pot, Like flesh in the caldron.”Then they will cry to the Lord, But He will not hear them; He will even hide His face from them at that time, Because they have been evil in their deeds.Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets Who make my people stray; Who chant“ Peace” While they chew with their teeth, But who prepare war against him Who puts nothing into their mouths:
