當挪亞活了六百歲那一年，二月十七日這一天，大深淵的泉源都裂開了，天上的罅隙也敞開了。

『故此以色列安然居住，雅各的水泉在富有五穀新酒之地獨流着；其天空也滴瀝下甘露。

使雨下於無人之地，無人居住的曠野，使窮荒淒涼之地得以豐足，渴澤之地能生嫩草呢？『雨有父親麼？露水珠是誰生的？

外國人虛無的神之中有能降霖雨的麼？天能自降甘霖麼？能如此的豈不是你、永恆主我們的上帝麼？所以我們仍等候着你，因為是你行了這一切事。

『錫安的子民哪，要快樂，要靠着永恆主你們的上帝來歡喜；因為他賜給你們秋霖以顯義氣，他給你們降下甘霖，就是秋霖春雨、像先前一樣。

因為他吸取了水點，這水點發了霧氣，就蒸餾為雨。雲天溜下雨水，雨水就滴落給億萬人。

願上帝賜給你天上的甘露，地上的肥土，以及許多五穀和新酒。

上帝說：『天下的水要積聚在一處，讓旱地露出來。』就這樣成了。

你眷顧大地，下雨澆灌它，使它大為肥沃；神溝充滿了水；你豫備着人的五穀，這樣地豫備它；澆透地的犂溝，潤平犂脊，用甘霖使地鬆軟；賜福與地所生的。你以你的慈恩給年歲戴上冠冕；你的轍跡都有脂油漬出，濕透野地的草場；小山以快樂束腰。

『大海衝出，從胎裏出來時，誰早設門戶將海閉住呢？那時我以雲彩當海的服裝，以暗霧當包裹的布；我為它定了界限，安設門閂門戶，說：「你只可到這裏，不可再進；你狂傲的波浪到這裏要止息住』？

以致山嶺上升，峽谷下沉，諸水流歸於你奠定之地。你定了界限，叫水別越過，別回來淹沒大地。

以撒回答以掃說：『看哪，我已經立他做你的主，已經把他的眾弟兄都給他做僕人，已經用五穀新酒資養他，我還能給你作甚麼呢，我兒？』以掃對他父親說：『難道你只有一個福可祝麼，我父？也給我吧，給我祝福吧，我父。』以掃就放聲大哭。他父親以撒回答他說：『看吧，你住的地方、必遠離地上的肥土，遠離天上的甘露。
