The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor; The wicked does not understand such concern.

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

Those who do what is right want to treat poor people fairly. But those who do what is wrong don’t care about the poor.

A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.

The godly care about the rights of the poor; the wicked don’t care at all.

The righteous person knows the rights of the poor, but the wicked one does not understand these concerns.

Blessed is one who considers the helpless; The Lord will save him on a day of trouble.

Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak, For the rights of all the unfortunate.Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the poor and needy.

One who shuts his ear to the outcry of the poor Will also call out himself, and not be answered.

The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery, and they have oppressed the poor and needy, and have oppressed the stranger without justice.I searched for a man among them who would build up a wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.So I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; I have brought their way upon their heads,” declares the Lord God.

Is that not what it means to know Me?” Declares the Lord.“ But your eyes and your heart Are intent only upon your own dishonest gain, And on shedding innocent blood, And on practicing oppression and extortion.”

When David’s young men came, they spoke to Nabal in accordance with all these words in David’s name; then they waited.But Nabal answered David’s servants and said,“ Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants today who are each breaking away from his master.Shall I then take my bread and my water and my meat that I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men whose origin I do not know?”

If I have lifted up my hand against the orphan, Because I saw I had support in the gate,

Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you are not tempted as well.

“ If I have rejected the claim of my male or female slaves When they filed a complaint against me,

I will rejoice and be glad in Your faithfulness, Because You have seen my misery; You have known the troubles of my soul,

They have treated father and mother with contempt among you. They have oppressed the stranger in your midst; they have oppressed the orphan and the widow among you.

And I said,“ Hear now, you leaders of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice?You who hate good and love evil, Who tear off their skin from them And their flesh from their bones,Who eat the flesh of my people, Strip off their skin from them, Smash their bones, And chop them up as for the pot, And as meat in a cauldron!”Then they will cry out to the Lord, But He will not answer them. Instead, He will hide His face from them at that time Because they have practiced evil deeds.

They are fat, they are sleek, They also excel in deeds of wickedness; They do not plead the cause, The cause of the orphan, so that they may be successful; And they do not defend the rights of the poor.
