Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

If you are afraid of people, it will trap you. But if you trust in the Lord, he will keep you safe.

The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.

The fear of mankind is a snare, but the one who trusts in the LORD is protected.

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.

Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.

Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue.For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever.

Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

Meanwhile, Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl came over and said to him,“ You were one of those with Jesus the Galilean.”But Peter denied it in front of everyone.“ I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.Later, out by the gate, another servant girl noticed him and said to those standing around,“ This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”Again Peter denied it, this time with an oath.“ I don’t even know the man,” he said.A little later some of the other bystanders came over to Peter and said,“ You must be one of them; we can tell by your Galilean accent.”Peter swore,“ A curse on me if I’m lying— I don’t know the man!” And immediately the rooster crowed.

Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.

His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue.

“ Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Then Nebuchadnezzar said,“ Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king’s command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

Greed causes fighting; trusting the Lord leads to prosperity.

No one was left alive to come to Gath and tell where he had really been. This happened again and again while he was living among the Philistines.

But David kept thinking to himself,“ Someday Saul is going to get me. The best thing I can do is escape to the Philistines. Then Saul will stop hunting for me in Israelite territory, and I will finally be safe.”

Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there.

Then the disciples came to him and asked,“ Do you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said?”

The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God.

Pay attention to these instructions, for anyone who fears God will avoid both extremes.

Abraham introduced his wife, Sarah, by saying,“ She is my sister.” So King Abimelech of Gerar sent for Sarah and had her brought to him at his palace.

Abraham replied,“ I thought,‘ This is a godless place. They will want my wife and will kill me to get her.’

Then Saul admitted to Samuel,“ Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded.

But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong.When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision.As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

As he was approaching the border of Egypt, Abram said to his wife, Sarai,“ Look, you are a very beautiful woman.When the Egyptians see you, they will say,‘ This is his wife. Let’s kill him; then we can have her!’So please tell them you are my sister. Then they will spare my life and treat me well because of their interest in you.”

I am suffering and in pain. Rescue me, O God, by your saving power.

Then Pilate tried to release him, but the Jewish leaders shouted,“ If you release this man, you are no‘ friend of Caesar.’ Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar.”When they said this, Pilate brought Jesus out to them again. Then Pilate sat down on the judgment seat on the platform that is called the Stone Pavement( in Hebrew, Gabbatha).

“ Don’t get so upset, my lord,” Aaron replied.“ You yourself know how evil these people are.They said to me,‘ Make us gods who will lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.’So I told them,‘ Whoever has gold jewelry, take it off.’ When they brought it to me, I simply threw it into the fire— and out came this calf!”
