Whoever still won’t obey after being warned many times will suddenly be destroyed. Nothing can save them.

He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.

One who becomes stiff-necked, after many reprimands will be shattered instantly— beyond recovery.

But since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke,I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you—when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.“ Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me,since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord.Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke,they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

“ I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture:‘ He who shared my bread has turned against me.’

If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?” His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death.

“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem,‘ Will you not learn a lesson and obey my words?’ declares the Lord.‘ Jehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command. But I have spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me.Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets to you. They said,“ Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you have not paid attention or listened to me.The descendants of Jehonadab son of Rekab have carried out the command their forefather gave them, but these people have not obeyed me.’

to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.”

Jesus answered,“ It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

“ But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and covered their ears.They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the Lord Almighty was very angry.“‘ When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,’ says the Lord Almighty.‘ I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land they left behind them was so desolate that no one traveled through it. This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.’”

The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention.

“‘ And what happens to your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, will be a sign to you— they will both die on the same day.

He said to the king,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ You have set free a man I had determined should die. Therefore it is your life for his life, your people for his people.’”

“ I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied.“ But you and your father’s family have. You have abandoned the Lord’s commands and have followed the Baals.

“ You warned them in order to turn them back to your law, but they became arrogant and disobeyed your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, of which you said,‘ The person who obeys them will live by them.’ Stubbornly they turned their backs on you, became stiff- necked and refused to listen.

Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”

Ahab said to Elijah,“ So you have found me, my enemy!”“ I have found you,” he answered,“ because you have sold yourself to do evil in the eyes of the Lord.He says,‘ I am going to bring disaster on you. I will wipe out your descendants and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel— slave or free.I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat and that of Baasha son of Ahijah, because you have aroused my anger and have caused Israel to sin.’“ And also concerning Jezebel the Lord says:‘ Dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.’

He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him take an oath in God’s name. He became stiff-necked and hardened his heart and would not turn to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Micaiah declared,“ If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added,“ Mark my words, all you people!”

The one whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but the one whose ways are perverse will fall into the pit.

Then Jesus replied,“ Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!”( He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)

The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place.But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.He brought up against them the king of the Babylonians, who killed their young men with the sword in the sanctuary, and did not spare young men or young women, the elderly or the infirm. God gave them all into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar.

For twenty-three years— from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah until this very day— the word of the Lord has come to me and I have spoken to you again and again, but you have not listened.And though the Lord has sent all his servants the prophets to you again and again, you have not listened or paid any attention.They said,“ Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways and your evil practices, and you can stay in the land the Lord gave to you and your ancestors for ever and ever.

Jesus answered,“ Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.”For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

While people are saying,“ Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the sections of his armor. The king told his chariot driver,“ Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I’ve been wounded.”All day long the battle raged, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. The blood from his wound ran onto the floor of the chariot, and that evening he died.As the sun was setting, a cry spread through the army:“ Every man to his town. Every man to his land!”So the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried him there.

( With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.

While he was still speaking, the king said to him,“ Have we appointed you an adviser to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped but said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

Therefore tell the people: This is what the Lord Almighty says:‘ Return to me,’ declares the Lord Almighty,‘ and I will return to you,’ says the Lord Almighty.Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says:‘ Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.Where are your ancestors now? And the prophets, do they live forever?But did not my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your ancestors?“ Then they repented and said,‘ The Lord Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as he determined to do.’”

And the Lord said,‘ Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?’“ One suggested this, and another that.Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the Lord and said,‘ I will entice him.’“‘ By what means?’ the Lord asked.“‘ I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said.“‘ You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the Lord.‘ Go and do it.’“ So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for you.”

And while they were eating, he said,“ Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other,“ Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”Jesus replied,“ The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said,“ Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?” Jesus answered,“ You have said so.”

this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant.It will break in pieces like pottery, shattered so mercilessly that among its pieces not a fragment will be found for taking coals from a hearth or scooping water out of a cistern.”

For I knew how stubborn you were; your neck muscles were iron, your forehead was bronze.

Yet they did not listen or pay attention; they were stiff-necked and would not listen or respond to discipline.

Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.Say to them,‘ This is what the Lord says: If you do not listen to me and follow my law, which I have set before you,and if you do not listen to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I have sent to you again and again( though you have not listened),
