守律法者、有智之子、從惡黨者、貽父之羞。

谨守教诲的，是聪明之子；与贪食者为伍的，却羞辱其父。

A discerning son heeds instruction, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.

A child who understands what is right learns from instruction. But a child who likes to eat too much brings shame on his father.

The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding, but a companion of gluttons shames his father.

Young people who obey the law are wise; those with wild friends bring shame to their parents.

我生斯世、從異邦人之俗亦至矣、邪侈縱欲、沉湎、蕩檢、饕餮過度、及拜偶像、尤非所宜、彼見爾不蕩檢踰閑、與彼相同、則異而謗爾、

好慧者悅親、狎妓者傷財。

子見督責、必益智慧、否則貽父母羞。

竊父母之財、自言無罪者、與盜無異。

欺父逐母、貽羞孰甚。

而此子狎妓、盡耗父業、乃至、則為之宰肥犢也、

爾小子、宜受我教、以此默識于心。傾耳聽道、專心學理、大聲而呼、亟求明哲、欲得智慧、索之若金、尋之若寶、夫如是、則耶和華上帝、所當寅畏、可得而知矣。耶和華賜人以智慧、畀人以明哲。

未幾、季子挾貲遠遊異地、在彼無度、蕩費其業、

爾小子、憶念我法、恪守我命、可得遐齡、可享平康。矜憫恆懷、真實無妄、此道勿離、懸於爾頸、銘於爾心、則上帝與人、無不愛爾、錫爾恩寵。一心恃耶和華、毋恃己能。凡事崇主、則蒙啟導。勿恃己智、宜畏耶和華、去諸偽為、則可納福、肌肉豐腴、骨空髓滿。以所有之初實、供於耶和華、則爾之倉廩、必得充盈、爾之酒醡、新釀流溢。爾小子、耶和華責爾勿輕視、主譴爾勿喪膽、蓋耶和華責其所愛、若父之慈其子。人得智慧、則蒙綏祉、市之愈白金、得之愈黃金、貴於琅玕、凡所慕者、無能比儗。得智慧者、福祉遐齡、左宜右有、從其道者、享懽樂、得平康。凡得之者、如得生命之樹、存之者、可蒙福祉。耶和華運其智慧、造穹蒼、立地維。裂地脈以出泉、布白雲而滴露。爾小子、宜守智慧、常目在之、慧者必得其壽、而英華發外、履道則坦坦、不致顛趾。高卧安寢、無所畏懼。一旦惡人遭譴、爾聞之而不驚。蓋爾恃耶和華、故足不致陷阱。施善有其機、則施之勿緩、爾有貨財、則勿諉之、曰、汝且退、明日予汝。有樂與爾為鄰者、則勿加害。人不害爾、爾勿與爭。強梁之徒。勿效其尤、雖居顯要、毋生艷羨。耶和華所深惡者、忤逆之輩、所神契者、行義之人。惡人之家、耶和華降以重災、義者之室、耶和華錫以純嘏。侮者鄙之、謙者益之、智者必榮、愚者必辱。

爾小子、聽我言而得智、守本心而遵道。蕩檢者勿交、沉湎者勿友、蓋饕餮甘酒、必致貧、思寢之人必衣敝。父母生爾、雖至老邁、宜聽勿棄。
