耶稣又说：“有个财主天天衣着华丽，生活奢侈。又有一个名叫拉撒路的乞丐身上长满了脓疮，被人放在财主家门口。他渴望吃到财主桌上掉下来的食物残渣，却只有狗来舔他的疮。“后来，乞丐死了，天使带他到亚伯拉罕身边。财主也死了，被人埋葬了。他在阴间受折磨，抬头远远地看见亚伯拉罕和他身边的拉撒路，

几天后，腓利斯和他的妻子犹太人土西拉一同来了，召见保罗，听他讲信基督耶稣的事。当保罗讲到公义、节制和将来的审判时，腓利斯十分恐惧，说：“你先下去吧，改天有机会，我再叫你来。”腓利斯希望保罗贿赂他，所以经常召他来谈话。过了两年，波求·非斯都接任总督，腓利斯为了讨好犹太人，仍然把保罗留在监里。

财物虽少但行事公义，胜过家财万贯却不公义。
