Anyone tormented by the guilt of murder will seek refuge in the grave; let no one hold them back.

Anyone troubled by the guilt of murder will seek to escape their guilt by death. No one should keep them from it.

If one is burdened with the blood of another, he will be a fugitive until death; let no one help him.

A murderer’s tormented conscience will drive him into the grave. Don’t protect him!

Someone burdened by bloodguilt will be a fugitive until death. Let no one help him.

A person who is burdened with the guilt of human blood Will be a fugitive until death; no one is to support him!

But after the death of the high priest, the slayer may return to the land of his possessions.So these things must be a statutory ordinance for you throughout your generations, in all the places where you live.“ Whoever kills any person, the murderer must be put to death by the testimony of witnesses; but one witness cannot testify against any person to cause him to be put to death.Moreover, you must not accept a ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death; he must surely be put to death.And you must not accept a ransom for anyone who has fled to a town of refuge, to allow him to return home and live on his own land before the death of the high priest.“ You must not pollute the land where you live, for blood defiles the land, and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed there, except by the blood of the person who shed it.Therefore do not defile the land that you will inhabit, in which I live, for I the LORD live among the Israelites.”

saying,“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said,“ What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”So Judas threw the silver coins into the temple and left. Then he went out and hanged himself.

The LORD says this about Jezebel,‘ Dogs will devour Jezebel by the outer wall of Jezreel.’

‘“ Know for sure that I saw the shed blood of Naboth and his sons yesterday,” says the LORD,“ and that I will give you what you deserve right here in this plot of land,” says the LORD.’ So now pick him up and throw him into this plot of land, just as the LORD said.”

They plotted against him and by royal decree stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD’s temple.King Joash disregarded the loyalty his father Jehoiada had shown him and killed Jehoiada’s son. As Zechariah was dying, he said,“ May the LORD take notice and seek vengeance!”At the beginning of the year the Syrian army attacked Joash and invaded Judah and Jerusalem. They wiped out all the leaders of the people and sent all the plunder they gathered to the king of Damascus.Even though the invading Syrian army was relatively weak, the LORD handed over to them Judah’s very large army, for the people of Judah had abandoned the LORD God of their ancestors. The Syrians gave Joash what he deserved.When they withdrew, they left Joash badly wounded. His servants plotted against him because of what he had done to the son of Jehoiada the priest. They murdered him on his bed. Thus he died and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

Say to him,‘ This is what the LORD says:“ Haven’t you committed murder and taken possession of the property of the deceased?”’ Then say to him,‘ This is what the LORD says:“ In the spot where dogs licked up Naboth’s blood they will also lick up your blood– yes, yours!”’”

When the local people saw the creature hanging from Paul’s hand, they said to one another,“ No doubt this man is a murderer! Although he has escaped from the sea, Justice herself has not allowed him to live!”
