我儿啊，你若为朋友担保，替陌生人击掌，你就被口中的言语套住，被嘴里的言语抓住。我儿啊，你既落在朋友手中，当这样行才可救自己：你要谦卑自己，去恳求你的朋友。不要让你的眼睛睡觉，不可容你的眼皮打盹。

不要为人击掌担保，也不要为债务作保。你若没有什么可偿还，何必使人夺去你睡卧的床呢？

你果真拿了邻舍的外衣作抵押，也要在日落前还给他；
